Yes laugh your way to success! It seems funny to say that you can build your practice with laughing. Laughter has become almost a lost art with all the negativity that seems to abound in our society, with the economy having so many down right now, with the craziness of world politics and so on. Trust me, if we replaced complaining with laughter this world would be a much better place.

I would love to do a research study in a hospital setting where one half of the patients are only able to watch news all day and the other half is only allowed to watch good wholesome comedy all day. Which ones do you think would have better outcomes and quicker discharges? It’s no contest!

From a chiropractic standpoint, you must have laughter in your office. Laughter, or joy, is part of the healing component and you should be utilizing it in your office. Don’t get me wrong, just laughter won’t correct a subluxation, but boy does it assist in the healing process of the body when the subluxation is corrected. This doesn’t mean that we become stand up comedians in our daily patient interactions, however it does mean that we should have a joyful spirit, that we should develop ways to make the patient laugh or smile on each and every visit. Using one liners is the best way, you don’t have to get a big laugh, but just a chuckle or even just a smile will do the job. Laughter or joy lifts people’s spirit and aids in the healing process, it is positive energy. And we all know that in today’s negative world people need all the positive energy we can dish out!

Try incorporating laughter into you office visits and see if you don’t get better results with your patients. It’s not a therapy you can charge for, but it is a therapy that will give chiropractic patients an increased chance of healing better and faster.

I totally agree!!! And let’s not forget the innovative approach that “Patch” Adams, MD, took in helping patients; you know this movie was based on a true story. Although, I don’t think I will dress up like a clown, like was done in the movie. haha
