Blogging For Chiropractors? Now is the Time!
January 17th, 2010 // 8:00 am @ Dr. Todd Osborne // 3 Comments
As I have began blogging, I am of course talking to other chiropractors about starting blogs to promote themselves, their clinics, and ultimately to create a presence on the internet in order to acquire new patients. The problem I am running into seems to be the same problem I had before diving into the blogosphere……they have no clue about blogging, social media, how to even get started. They have the same excuses, “I don’t want to write articles, I don’t have time, I wouldn’t know where to start, I don’t know what to write about” etc. If this is you, go to Next Generation Chiropractor, now.
The problem for many of us is this, we really don’t see the need or purpose behind it, we are not “educated” to what it is really about, therefore we are afraid of it, or don’t see the need to “waste time” doing it. Not much different than a chiropractic patient coming into the office that doesn’t really see a need or purpose behind chiropractic care, they are not educated to what chiropractic really is about, therefore they are afraid of it, or don’t see the need for it! How do we correct that with a patient? We educate them so they have the foundational knowledge so they can make an informed decision about their health. You must do the same in regards to blogging and social media. The writing is on the wall, or should I say the screen! It is not if this will be a primary part of chiropractic marketing, it is when will it be the dominant force in chiropractic marketing.
Now is the time to get started, not wait until it is dominating advertising and patient acquisition. I think for many it is hard, it was for me, to see the urgency of chiropractic blogging, but by educating myself I have gained a much better understanding of the concept and it’s use for chiropractors, and of course the urgency to get this going sooner than later. As I told a chiropractor earlier today, I wouldn’t wait to start this later in the year. You don’t have to start today, but the more you have done by the end of the year the better off you will be, as this will take time to build into and produce what you want it to produce.” Here is the analogy I used, Doc if I could see the future and were able to tell you that within a year to a year and a half your market will be 95% Hispanic speaking, what do you think I would be advising you to do right now? The doctor replied, “Start learning Spanish.” Exactly was my reply, you would not wait until next year or later to learn Spanish after the market had changed, at least if you wanted to continue to be successful in your market. Same thing here, chiropractic marketing is going to change greatly over the next year and beyond, don’t wait til then to start learning a new “language”!
If you are like me, a complete infant, when it comes to knowledge about blogging and how to do it or if you are a seasoned veteran that wants to take the performance of your blog to another level, I highly recommend that you check out all the incredible information on the subject at Next Generation Chiropractor. My colleague Dr. MacNamara has become the chiropractic expert in the field of blogging and social media for the chiropractic profession, and he is the go to guy for information whether you are a raw beginner like myself, or you are a veteran. I promise you, no one knows more about it than he does. He gives away tons of information to you, and can also help you in getting everything set up if you choose, take a look at Developing Others, or if you are wanting to learn all the how to’s yourself, then he has a very affordable training program designed for you at Blogging Chiros.
I hope this helps you see the writing on the screen! Or on the wall if you’re on Facebook! Looking forward to seeing you in the blogosphere soon. Chiropractic has been looking for a way to reach the masses and compete for almost 115 years now, our opportunity has come, will you be a part of it? Just take the first step and get started. Go to www.nextgenerationchiropractor.com and start reading. You will be amazed how much you can learn in a very short amount of time, I was!
