Are You A Chiropractic Professional?

Depending on what definition of a professional you are using, I guess it could be argued that anyone with a chiropractic diploma or license is a professional. Here is the definition from Meriram-Webster online: 1 a : of, relating to, or characteristic of a profession b : engaged in one of the learned professions c (1) : characterized by or conforming to the technical or ethical standards of a profession (2) : exhibiting a courteous, conscientious, and generally businesslike manner in the workplace.

I would argue that a true professional is indeed what is described above, but also would include being able to do this consistently. Consistently no matter the mood, situation, or circumstances. Anyone can be a “professional” on a great day, one where everything seems to be right, the day that God has seemed to give you incredible favor. But what about the opposite type of day, when all you know what breaks loose? That is the secret of being a true professional. That you can do your job and do it with utmost excellence on either day!

In order to be able to accomplish this you must have a system. Something to “fall back” on when negative things are happening that affect your mood and your attitude. Do you have a reliable “go to” system that allows you to be a professional even when you don’t feel like being one? That is a secret of successful people in any profession, not just chiropractic.

Remember it is about he patient, not you. They are there to receive a professional service, not to receive whatever your mood indicates for the day. Some times you got to fake it to make it! A system that allows you to do so is the key!
