Mental Toughness for Chiropractors

Mental Toughness for Chiropractors

I think one of the major factors in success for chiropractors is our mental toughness. If you are all about being accepted and approved of by everyone, you are in the wrong business. Chiropractors have to be mentally tough to survive, let alone thrive. We have to stay committed to our principle and purpose in an environment that wreaks havoc on the same. It is extremely important for us to stay up to date on our techniques, office procedures, and so forth, but how much more important it might be for us to stay sharp on our mental toughness. Let’s face it we think differently about health care than the average bird! And everything we see in the medial, hear from patients, read in our periodicals, and even from many of our colleagues tends to tear down what we stand for (or at least once stood for) rather than building us up. So what I am saying is that your mental toughness is up to you. You have to sharpen it just like you sharpen your clinical skills, your adjusting skills, your business skills.
The way to do this is by continuing to gather information that challenges you mentally. We must read books, listen to audios, watch videos with information that pushes your thinking. That encourages mental toughness.
Today I am recommending a book that is custom designed for developing your mental toughness. No chiropractic is not mentioned one time in the book, but boy is it significant in the way a successful chiropractor must think. It is appropriately titled, “177 Mental Toughness Secrets of the World Class” by Steve Siebold. It is available for download, hard or soft cover, and on CD. Personally would recommend a written copy as each page takes some time and reflection to really gather it in. Warning: This is not a quick weekend read!! This is one of the most thought provoking books I have read and I encourage you to get into it and develop your mental toughness so you can continue to develop your chiropractic business in an environment that discourages you at every step.
I believe your practice will never be any bigger than your confrontation level. Mental toughness helps you grow your confrontation level and therefore your practice. Get Mentally Tough and see if your practice does not grow too!
